Hire a Business AssistantA Business PA works closely with senior managerial and directorial staff to provide administrative and organizational support within the workplace. Business PAs usually support their principals on a one-to-one basis, although can support a number of managers depending on the organization and the demands of the role. Business PAs ensure that the principal’s time is utilized efficiently, and that they are prepared for their day ahead.
Business PAs need extensive knowledge of the organization in which they work and become in tune with the principal’s needs. Principals often rely heavily on their Business PA, trusting that tasks will be handled efficiently and accurately; therefore, discretion and confidentiality are essential attributes for a business PA. Business PAs often act as the principal's first point of contact.
Tasks are likely to include arranging local and international travel and accommodation; screening phone calls, inquiries and requests; managing complex dairies often with back-to-back appointments; taking dictation and minutes; carrying out research; producing documents and reports; organizing and attending meeting; and ensuring the principal is always prepared for meetings, and overseeing accounts and budgets. A business PA can also be required to be flexible and conduct work out of hours, and may also do occasional private duties for their principal, such as running personal errands and buying gifts, booking family holidays and paying personal bills.
